Lumley to auction alter egos outfits
Lumley to auction alter egos' outfits

Actress Joanna Lumley is raising money for charity by auctioning a collection of clothes worn by her on-screen alter egos.

Most famous in recent years for playing drunken and ditsy try-hard fashion icon Patsy Stone on the hit British TV series Absolutely Fabulous, Lumley, 66, will donate all proceeds to The Prince's Trust, a youth charity established by Prince Charles.

There are 50 lots, with reserves starting at STG10 ($15), including Lumley's entire personal collection of clothes worn by Patsy, and other items including lingerie worn by the star when she played Purdey in The New Avengers.

"I am giving up some of my greatest treasures and happiest memories," Lumley told London's Evening Standard newspaper.

"I am so thrilled to think the proceeds will all go to young people through one of my all-time favourite charities. I love each item and garment with passion."

Each lot comes with a letter of authenticity signed by Lumley.

Bids for Tuesday's sale at Kerry Taylor Auctions in London can be made online, by phone and in person.
