Looking for a Christmas gift for the green thumb in your life?

Wembley-based Perth Succulent Bowls creates gorgeous custom-made succulent arrangements, including planters, bowls, terrariums, birdcages (pictured) and glass teardrops.

Founder Suzanne Lefroy said the beauty of her creations was that they were designed to live forever, making them a longer-lasting alternative to giving fresh flowers.

"Succulents are surging in popularity because they are low maintenance, low water and cool to look at," she said. "They grow well in shallow bowls and add year-round colour and interest to gardens. Neglect them, and chances are they'll be fine."

The diversity of succulents was another reason to love them. "The plants' shapes and textures range from dainty beads and fluffy mounds to bold suggestions of the dinosaur era," she said. "Many resemble daisies or roses and come in surprising shades of teal, silver, chartreuse and burgundy."

She also creates living succulent Christmas trees, which you can find in next week's last-minute festive style ideas feature in Habitat.

Perth Succulent Bowls products are available from the Mt Claremont Farmers Market every Saturday. Visit facebook.com/perthsucculentbowls.
