Loved by a variety of high-profile bloggers, WAGs and fashion devotees, Bruug designer Natasha Butler is gearing up to present her eagerly anticipated spring-summer collection at Telstra Perth Fashion Festival's WA Designer Runway showcase on September 20.

The wife of West Coast Eagles player Sam Butler, the Perth-based designer commands a huge group of supporters known affectionately as the Bruug Army, who will be sitting front row at the event.

Bruug Army to swarm front row

"The Bruug girls are very strong supporters in general," Butler told AAA Weekend.

"For this particular show, we're going to have five guests of Bruug - VIP Bruug girls who are noticeable in the public eye. We have Rayne Embley, netball star Shae Bolton, our beautiful Bruug ambassador Steph Whife, Carissa Letizia, who is a blogger/instagrammer for London On A Winter's Day and (Fremantle Dockers *WAG and model) Samara Tugwell."

A proud member of the Bruug Army, former West Coast Eagles WAG Embley has supported the label since its inception.

"I love the label because there's something in the whole collection I can wear every day. It's really easy, you can dress it up, dress it down and wear it from day to night. The feel of the clothes is fantastic and the best thing is that they last," Embley said.

Inspired by Butler's travels abroad, the new Bruug collection is called A Day in Antibes and is the designer's favourite range yet.

"I'm so excited about this collection," she said.

"It has a really strong theme of the South of France running through it, it reminds me of a trip I took once. I'm showcasing a lot of muted pastels but also some bold bright greens and reds to reflect some of the architecture that's in that area. It's going to be a little more architectural than usual."

Becoming a designer has been a wild ride for Butler, who established Bruug only a year ago.

"It's been crazy and it's been so fun," she said. "It's not an easy industry to be a part of but everyone has been really supportive and lovely and I think that's the difference with the Perth industry compared with the fashion industry in other States.

"Given who my husband is, I think it could have easily gone the other way. It's great that the support has been so strong and the sales and client base is growing - it's all you can ask for."
