Age no barrier for seasoned runners

They are at opposite ends of the scale age-wise, but Lucy Kelly and Patrick Sheerin will both be pounding the pavement for this year's HBF Run for a Reason.

Just three years old, Lucy is already a veteran of Perth fun runs thanks to her parents Melissa and Damien.

"We kind of enrol her in every fun run we sign up for," Ms Kelly said. "We want to encourage her to do something for the community while keeping active at the same time."

Lucy finished her first City to Surf at just three months old and has been in several Runs for a Reason, albeit in her stroller.

The oldest competitor in this year's run, 82-year-old Mr Sheerin has been a fun runner for more than 20 years.

"The atmosphere is fantastic and I really enjoy the exercise," Mr Sheerin said.

"You just feel better doing an hour each day."

They will both take part in the run at Gloucester Park on May 25.
