Top chefs plate up for Telethon
The Rob Broadfield Dinner For Telethon has this year attracted some of the country's most recognised chefs with Rockpool Bar & Grill owner Neil Perry announcing he is signing up for another year and star chef David Coomer coming on board for the first time.
The event - Telethon's most prestigious regional fundraiser - has been extended into a two night, weekend-long affair.
Property company Hawaiian, which owns Cable Beach Club and is a cornerstone supporter of the event, has committed more resources this year, underwriting activities including the two main dinners, cocktail parties, cooking master classes and fashion events.
"The Rob Broadfield weekend has proved to be such a success that we have extended the fun and fundraising this year and set a target of $200,000 for the weekend," Hawaiian chief executive Russell Gibbs said.
"It's an important part of Hawaiian's community engagement strategy, encouraging WA's generous givers to join with us on our long-term philanthropic journey."
The event will be held on the weekend of June 14-15.
Seven West Media chief executive (WA) Chris Wharton said _The West Australian _and Channel Seven Perth were supporting the event again. "The Rob Broadfield weekend has to be the most fun way to help one of WA's best causes," Mr Wharton said.
"We're all very excited about the 2014 weekend."
Perry said he was delighted to be back at the Broome event this year.
"I'll be cooking dishes from my Spice Temple restaurant menus for the gala Saturday dinner," Perry said.
Renowned WA seafood chef Pete Manifis will cook a Friday evening casual dinner for the guests and chef Nick Wendland, who owns Broome's celebrated Aarli Bar restaurant, will add his small plate Asian dishes and desserts to the Friday and Saturday menus.
