Perth fashion designer's Grammy winner

Perth-born designer Jaime Lee Major has hit the big time after designing Kimbra's dazzling dress for the 2013 Grammy Awards.

Major's dress for the New Zealand songstress, who won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her Gotye duet Somebody I Used to Know, was created from multiple layers of pale turquoise silk tulle and embellished with more than 2kg of West Australian freshwater pearls, which were all hand sewn onto the creation.

The over-the-top demi-couture gown was inspired by Major's recent trip to Broome.

After an initial fitting in Sydney, Major, who is based in Bali, completed the gown in her studio, before flying with it to Los Angeles at the weekend for a final fitting.
