Freshen the face
There are plenty of surgery-free solutions

The year may be coming to an end but there's no reason your face needs to look another year older. There are so many spa and beauty options available to freshen your appearance - and many don't require drastic measures or downtime.

From lasers that blast away age spots and sun damage, to facials that contour and plump skin, there are some impressive treatments available to help turn back time without taking drastic measures.

Mind&Body has canvassed a range of great anti-ageing treatments from some of Perth's leading spas and clinics.

The all-natural option

Bodhi J Health and Beauty Spa, Wembley, 9387 5152

"We provide 100 per cent natural and organic skincare solutions with proved results," owner Tania Taylor said. "Sodashi's thermal infusing facial is a favourite among our clients, not only is it luxurious, but the results are instant."

Described as a "facial indulgence", the treatment hydrates, tones and restores skin elasticity. Ms Taylor said the point of difference in this facial was Sodashi's warm infusing mask, which, once applied, heated up to about 37C and intensified the penetration of vitamins and minerals into the deeper layers of the skin. Skin was left hydrated and toned and elasticity was restored. Fine lines were minimised and the skin had an even tone.

"We call it "nature's facelift" - the results speak for themselves."

Needling back the years

Dynamic Skin Services, Nedlands, 9389 1552

Dermapen involves vibrating micro needles which, when applied to the face, pierce layers of the skin's epidermis. These fine perforations stimulate natural collagen reproduction - the skin reacts to heal itself, delivering nutrients such as vitamin B5 and hyaluronic acid, deep into the underlying skin layers.

Dynamic Skin Service's Brenda Duncan-Smith said the dermapen was used to treat a range of conditions including aged, sagging skin, fine lines and wrinkles, large pores, scarring, stretch marks and alopecia. The number of sessions required varied according to the skin, but Ms Duncan-Smith recommended four to six monthly treatments for those seeking to simply rejuvenate and freshen up.

Ms Duncan-Smith said vertical needling results were similar to laser treatments but without the side-effects or downtime. "It's also more effective than most microdermabrasion and chemical peels," she said. "Unlike traditional skin needling rollers, the dermapen causes less trauma and has minimal skin damage, reducing discomfort and making it safer and more effective."

Cost: $350 a session; package of four sessions, $1050
