Perth Fashion Festival fashion director Mariella Harvey-Hanrahan gives an exclusive glimpse of the action that unfolds behind the scenes in her daily festival diary.
DAY 3 of the 2012 Perth Fashion Festival and with the spectacular shows we've seen so far, I'm wondering how the remaining week could possibly get any better.
Noon: Finally arrive at the State Reception Centre for the fabulous Myer Fashion Luncheon after having a major Carrie Bradshaw moment with my corsage blowing off and me running in my heels down King Street trying to catch it. Everyone looks divine, there are celebrities, dignitaries and gorgeous young women enjoying a Friday fashionista lunch.
Our international ambassador, Marie Choo, the gorgeous Mel B and her husband, Stephen Belafonte, are mixing with the Myer guest of honour Kris Smith. Ladies, you're wishing you were me right now; he is even more handsome in real life! Kris hits the runway and the cheers and screams drown out the torrential rain and wind outside.
1.15pm: Wayne Cooper, Kylie Radford and Richard Poulson, of Morrison, and the talented Aurelio Costarella who has dressed me for the lunch, are all front row for today's show. Everyone is having an amazing time even if the Chandon ran out on the VIP table.
3pm: The freak storm has (literally) put a dampener on our day with the rescheduling of the Harbour Town and Swimwear Central shows for Sunday because of flooding. Fashion Central is waterlogged and the models are being ferried from one side of the city to another. It truly is a Freaky Friday.
4pm: What a day. Soaking up the atmosphere at Wesley Quarter for the second session of the live fashion shoot and then it's off to Fashionably Loud at Brookfield Place before the night's festivities commence.
