Mia Wasikowska is a "huge sucker" for comfortable red carpet wear.

The Australian actress prefers unfussy style to overly glamorous get-ups when she's gracing glitzy Hollywood events.

Wasikowska has to assess an outfit's practicality before deciding to step out in it.

"I'm a huge sucker for comfort," she told WWD.

"I do like things that have character, and something maybe unusual about them, but I like pretty simple but detailed and more understated [clothes]."

Wasikowska was named as the new face of Miu Miu's spring/summer 2012 campaign earlier this year, marking her first major fashion campaign.

The 22-year-old was dressed in Marie Antoinette-inspired clothes for the colourful shoot, wearing printed dresses and statement jewellery.

Wasikowska loves assuming an alluring role.

"I rarely get the chance to look glamorous in the movies that I do, so it was sort of just like taking on another role for a few days and dressing up," she said.

"It doesn't even feel like me when I see it."
