The average father gains about 10 kilograms after their child is born, according to UK research which indicates that women are not the only ones struggling with “baby weight”.
Pressures of work and family life have been blamed, as men do less exercise and eat more takeaways due to time constraints.
The UK study, commissioned by Benenden Healthcare Society and the Men’s Health Forum charity, examined the habits of 2000 fathers.
Dr Ian Banks, president of the Men’s Health Forum said: “Men can face an uphill struggle with their health when they become fathers.”
