One Fell Swoop might just be the best little fashion label you've never heard of.
Although the brand's designers, Nina Ergic and Dan Romanin, may fly under the radar in comparison with some of the better-known labels coming out of WA, they have quietly gained a solid following and a strong reputation over the past couple of years.
Established in 2005, One Fell Swoop has gone on to show its wares at the Melbourne Fashion Festival and Australian Fashion Week.
The label won the 2012 Most Innovative Designer Award at the WA Fashion Awards after presenting one of the strongest collect- ions at last year's Perth Fashion Festival.
Now Ergic and Romanin set to show their latest collection on Saturday at Perth Fashion Week in the hope that they will gain a whole new audience.
"Winning the Most Innovative Designer award gave us a huge amount of validation and provided the encouragement for us not to give up," Ergic said.
"It's great that with Perth Fashion Week, WA designers now have another opportunity to showcase their work on a stage that will hopefully gain them national and international recognition."
Simplicity and comfort are key elements of the One Fell Swoop label but there are also touches of romanticism and free-flowing elegance in their designs.
The style is feminine and individualistic, with a focus on draping and a minimal colour palette in dresses and semi-sheer separates.
"This season there's little to no black in the collection, which was a challenge," Ergic said.
"Instead we've used more peach, white, grey and sand colours."
As part of their Perth Fashion Week show, the two designers will screen a short fashion film illustrating the theme of the collection, which is based around the idea of kinship, ritual and sisterhood.
This year, the designers will go to Singapore to present their collection at the Blueprint Trade Show.
"The biggest challenge for any emerging label is time - there is never enough time," Ergic said.
"Getting a strong enough profile is costly but it also has a lot to do with having the right contacts.
"Having enough motivation has never been the issue for the two of us."
One Fell Swoop show on Saturday at 5pm at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Perth Fashion Week opens tonight and runs until Monday.
