FFA Cup venue switch

The two highly anticipated FFA Cup round-of-32 matches to be held in Perth next month will be played at the WA Athletics Stadium.

NPL WA club Stirling Lions will host reigning A-League champions Brisbane Roar at the venue on August 19.

Recently crowned Cool Ridge Cup winners Bayswater City will take on A-League heavyweights Melbourne Victory the following night.

Both matches were originally scheduled to be played at Stirling’s home ground, Macedonia Park.

Football Federation Australia confirmed the switch to the WA Athletics Stadium today.

Stirling and Bayswater qualified for the inaugural FFA Cup via Football West’s State knockout competition – the Cool Ridge Cup.

Bayswater, coached by former Socceroos defender Chris Coyne, beat Stirling 2-0 in the final on Saturday to win their successive Cool Ridge Cup.

WA’s third FFA Cup representative, A-League side Perth Glory, will travel to take on Newcastle Jets on August 5.
