Police are investigating a suspected boating accident after the body of a man was seen floating in a Walpole inlet this morning.

Walpole police and local marine rescue volunteers found the man, who is 33 years old, in the water near Rest Point Road about 8am after a call from a passerby.

His body was found near a partially submerged boat.

Police believe there was no one else in the boat and that there are no suspicious circumstances but are still trying to establish what happened.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
