A 20-year-old woman has died after falling of a horse at Muchea this morning.

Her death, which a St John Ambulance spokeswoman described as a “freak accident,” happened about 7.15am.

The woman, believed to be an employee at the stables, died at the scene.

Paramedics were called to Greenside Thoroughbreds stables near the Brand Highway, where the woman had reportedly fallen off a horse.

Police are trying to contact the woman's family.

Worksafe are investigating.
