A thief was injured while fleeing a Ballajura newsagency where he snatched a 50-year-old woman's purse yesterday.

The man suffered cuts and fell to the ground after running into a glass window, next to a sliding door, between 10am and 10.40am.

He had earlier run up behind the woman at the store at the Market Place Shopping Centre on Alexander Drive and stolen her purse.

Bystanders who witnessed him running into the window, but were not aware of the theft, helped him until another offender approached and warned them to leave him alone.

Both men left the area in a stolen green Lexus registration 1BNP328.

The car had been stolen from a property in Mirrabooka earlier in the day.

The offenders are 15 to 25 years old and 170 to 180cm tall, slim build, dark wavy hair and dark skin.

Anyone who saw any of the incidents should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
