Police have called for information on the movements of this Toyota Landcruiser.

Update: A 25-year-old man has been charged with grievous bodily harm after the death of a ten-month-old boy who was found nearly 1000km from home at a Pilbara roadhouse yesterday.

The boy’s family reported him missing from Broome about 1.20am yesterday.

Police were called to the Fortescue Roadhouse in Mardie about 2pm, where the baby was found with a 25-year-old man.

The baby was not breathing.

It is understood paramedics attempted to resuscitate the boy but he was later pronounced dead.

Police charged a Broome man this evening who will appear in Karratha Magistrate's Court tomorrow.

Police said the charge would be reviewed after a post-mortem on the baby is completed.

Police are calling for anyone with information about the movement of the silver 1982 Toyota Landcruiser 80 series.

The vehicle is believed to have travelled from Broome, leaving about 11pm on Tuesday.

It was found at the Fortescue Roadhouse about 2pm yesterday.

Major crime squad detectives will travel to the Pilbara today to help Karratha detectives with the investigation.

Those with information are asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
