About 100 firefighters battled two bushfires in Medina and York last night.

In Medina, a deliberately lit fire burnt through about 20 hectares of bush after it started on the western side of Gentle Road.

The fire was reported about 8.20pm and 40 career and volunteer firefighters from nine stations worked to control the blaze.

A bushfire advice warning was issued for people in the western part of Medina.

In York, firefighters saved three homes threatened by a fire burning between Bayly Road and Buckingham Road, near the intersection of Chandos Road.

The blaze was reported about 7.20pm and was fought by 60 career and volunteer firefighters.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

A bushfire advice warning was issued for people in the eastern part of York near Bayly Road and Chandos Road.
