Motorcyclist dies in Ardross crash

A 26-year-old Scarborough man has died after his motorcycle and a car collided in Ardross last night.

The man was riding his blue Suzuki motorbike east along Canning Highway just before 10pm.

He stopped at the traffic lights the intersection of Riseley Street, accelerated heavily and moved from the right lane into the left lane, overtaking other vehicles.

Police said the man crashed into the back of a white Mitsubishi Neon sedan that was travelling in the left lane.

The crash happened about 460m east of the Riseley Street intersection.

St John Ambulance took the man to Royal Perth Hospital but he died overnight.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or saw the motorcycle before the crash is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

In a separate crash last night, a 40-year-old man suffered spinal injuries when his bicycle was clipped by a car in Karawara about 5.30pm.

The cyclist and the car collided near the intersection of Jackson Road and Walanna Drive.

A Royal Perth Hospital spokesman said the cyclist was in a serious but stable condition.

Police are investigating both crashes.
