Police are searching for a man who broke into a woman's home, punched her in the face and stole her car before crashing it and stealing a second car near Mandurah yesterday.

The 65-year-old woman was at her home in Legend Crescent, Greenfields, about 3.50pm when the man tried to cut his way through the flyscreen of a back bedroom window.

The woman tried to shut the window but the man punched her in the face, causing minor bruising and swelling, and continued to break in.

The man stole the woman's car keys from a table and drove off in her Toyota Aurion.

The offender was driving the car north on Mandurah Road when he lost control of the vehicle at a roundabout and damaged the car.

He then drove on the wrong side of the road, travelling north in the south-bound lanes, and caused another vehicle to stop near Rafferty Road.

He ordered the driver, a 57-year-old woman, out of the car and stole that vehicle, a grey Holden Acclaim registration WR7884.

The offender is described as 17-21 years old with dark skin. He was wearing a sports singlet and black shorts.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
