A 19-year-old Bunbury man is facing a string of traffic charges after he allegedly lost control of his car, mounted the median strip and stopped on the verge in front of a police patrol last night.

The teenager was driving in the area of Strickland Street just after 9pm when he was spotted by officers conducting patrols.

As police walked up to the man he allegedly accelerated towards one officer before driving away.

The officers followed the car and arrested the man in his driveway.

He was charged with reckless driving, excess 0.08 and failure to stop.

He is due to appear in Bunbury Magistrate's Court today.
