UPDATE: 4pm A bushfire advice has been issued for people in the southern part of Port Kennedy near Port Kennedy Drive, west of Warnbro Sound Avenue, in the City of Rockingham.

The suspicious fire, which was reported at 11.11am today, started south of Port Kennedy Drive and west of Warnbro Sound Avenue and is contained and under control.

There is no threat to lives or homes but there is a lot of smoke in the area. Although there is no immediate danger residents need to be aware and keep up to date in case the situation changes.

Warnbro Sound Avenue north-bound, between Port Kennedy Drive and Anstey Road, is closed.

Twenty career and volunteer Fire and Rescue Service and Bush Fire Service firefighters from five stations are on the scene.

Three helitacs were assisting ground crews and have since been released. The air intelligence helicopter is currently assessing the area.
