A house being built in Yokine has been hit by vandals who turned the bath on and left water to overflow throughout the new home, causing about $50,000 damage.

Police are seeking information regarding an incident at a home under construction in Bradford Street, Yokine.

A police spokeswoman said that some time between 6pm and 11.30pm yesterday a person or persons gained entry to the home which is at 'lock up' stage.

"The offenders went to the upstairs bathroom, used a bed sheet to plug the drain in the bath and turned on the taps before leaving," she said.

"The water ran all night, causing flooding to the first floor and running down the walls to the bottom floor.

"The water caused significant damage to electrical wiring, walls, new furniture and flooring throughout the home. Damage is estimated to be over $50,000."

Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time who saw anything suspicious, or has any information, to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
