A man was hit in the head with a baseball bat during a home invasion by two masked men in Hamersley last night.

The men broke into the house on Rannoch Circle through a locked front door and attacked one of the property's occupants with the bat about 9.15pm.

The intruders were attacked by the occupant's dog before they hit it several times with the baseball bat and tried to steal it.

Several male occupants in the house fought back and the intruders fled from the property empty handed.

Both of the offenders wore balaclavas.

The victim suffered a cut to his head but refused medical treatment.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
