Verge treasure hunters flee in fear

Armadale Detectives have charged a 29-year-old man after he allegedly pointed a firearm at two people in Armadale overnight.

It will be alleged that at around 11.50pm, a 26-year-old woman and her 19-year-old male friend stopped outside a house on Doorigo Road in Armadale to look at items discarded for a verge collection.

A police spokeswoman said a 29-year-old man left a nearby house and approached the two.

After being verbally abused, the two returned to their car. The man then came to the driver’s window and pointed what they believed to be a firearm at them.

The two then drove away and called police.

Police attended the address, and allegedly found a replica firearm used in the offence hidden in a lounge suite.

The man has been charged with Being Armed in a Way that may Cause Fear, Possession of methylamphetamine and Possess Drug Paraphernalia.

He will appear before the Armadale Magistrates Court on February 28.
