A Taiwanese tourist has been found dead in Kalbarri this morning after going missing while swimming yesterday.

The 39-year-old man was swimming with his 37-year-old female partner, who is also Taiwanese, in the Murchison River when the woman found it difficult to swim yesterday afternoon.

The woman flagged down a passing kayaker and was recovered from the water, but her partner seemed to have disappeared.

Police searched for the man yesterday and a continued with a land and sea search this morning.

His body was found in the water at 7.15am near where he disappeared.

Police are preparing a report for the Coroner.
