Labor's plan to ditch the MAX light rail project and the Roe Highway extension received a mixed response from the areas most likely to benefit from the Barnett Government initiatives.
MAX, the $1.8 billion light rail line from the city up Fitzgerald Street and Alexander Drive to Mirrabooka would serve residents in the local councils of Stirling, Vincent and Perth.
Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi opposes light rail through Murray and Hay street pedestrian malls.
Stirling mayor David Boothman said he would like light rail in Osborne Park and along Scarborough Beach Road.
The Roe Highway extension stage 8 from Kwinana Freeway to Stock Road is supported by the City of Melville but not by the City of Cockburn.
Melville mayor Russell Aubrey said Roe 8 was the best way to improve access to Fiona Stanley Hospital.
"We would be disappointed if Roe 8 was abandoned on the whim of Metronet," he said.
