Police are searching for a teenager who robbed a 79-year-old woman in her Ballajura home last night.

The woman was woken by the intruder in her unit in Guadalupe Drive about 10.30pm and disturbed him in her living room.

The teenager grabbed the woman around the neck and stole a necklace that she was wearing before running away.

The offender is described as aged in his mid to late teens and about 160cm tall with light hair.

He was wearing dark clothing, including a beanie.
