Police have warned the public to be alert after a violent attempted robbery by a man wielding a knife on a fast food restaurant in Madeley earlier this month.

About 2am on Sunday January 13, the man walked to the drive-through window and forced it open, lashing out with a knife and demanding money.

The employee stepped back from the man’s reach and the man eventually fled.

“This was a very violent attack, terrifying experience for staff members, and we’re asking anyone who can recognise the male pictured to call Crime Stoppers, let us know and we’ll hunt him down,” Const. Matthew Hallsworth
said.

“People like this who commit these serious crimes have no place in our community.”

Police have released CCTV footage of the terrifying assault.

Const. Hallsworth said police were not aware of other incidents linked to this offender in the area.

“It’s quite clear he’s desperate for cash, and he will go to great lengths to obtain it,” Const Hallsworth said.

He was described as about 30 years of age with fair skin, approximately 175-180cm tall with a slim to medium build and unshaven.

He was wearing a long-sleeved light grey hooded jumper, black tracksuit pants and black runners.

Regional Investigations Unit detectives are seeking information on the incident.

Anyone who recognises the person in the photo is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
