A person has died in a car accident north of Albany this morning.

It is understood the car they were travelling in along Albany Highway crashed into a tree near Millbrook Road in Green Valley about 10.10am.

The driver was trapped and firefighters from the Albany fire and rescue service worked to free them.

It is believed the driver died at the scene as a result of injuries.

Emergency services are still at the scene.

The driver’s death takes the State’s road toll to 19, one of the highest numbers it has been for this time of year in over a decade.
