Esperance fire ban cancelled

Update A total fire ban for the Shire of Esperance has been cancelled after a change in conditions in the area.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services had issued a ban of any activity that could start a fire due to fears hot, dry and windy conditions could start a bushfire.

However, the ban has since been lifted.

Meanwhile, a catastrophic fire danger warning has been issued for the Eucla area, which includes the eastern part of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder and the eastern part of the Shire of Dundas.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast the worst possible conditions for bush or grassfire for the area.

The department has warned that fire that takes hold will be “extremely difficult to control and will take significant firefighting resources and cooler conditions to bring it under controlâ€
