A 72-year-old man has died after he was injured in a traffic crash in Maddington yesterday morning.

The man's Ford Falcon station wagon was travelling along Gosnells Road West when it collided with a Mitsubishi Magna at the Tonkin Highway intersection about 11.45am.

Emergency services crews cut the man from his vehicle and he was taken to Royal Perth Hospital, where he died a short time later.

The 49-year-old man driving the Mitsubishi Magna suffered only minor injuries.

Earlier yesterday morning, a 42-year-old Carey Park woman was trapped in her car for more than an hour and a half after she crashed into a tree in North Boyanup.

The woman, who suffered serious injuries in the crash, was driving along Kilpatrick Road, which is not sealed, about 6am when her car left the road.

She was found by a passing motorist about 7.30am and taken to Bunbury Regional Hospital.

She was later flown to Perth for treatment.
