A resident of a Gosnells home gutted by a suspicious fire last night was taken away in an ambulance.

A St John Ambulance spokesman said the person, who had been in the house when the fire broke out, was taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, but their injuries were not serious.

Firefighters were called to the property on Hicks Street about 11.10pm.

Four crews from Maddington, Armadale, Welshpool and Murdoch took about 40 minutes to bring the blaze under control.

A Department of Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the fire caused about $200,000 damage to the home.

Police are this morning investigating the cause of the fire.

All residents were accounted for.

Anyone with information on the blaze is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
