Accused thief allowed on cruise

A Port Kennedy woman accused of stealing almost $250,000 from an elderly friend has had her bail varied so she can go on a cruise with her daughter.

Yvonne Joan Rollans, 57, appeared in the Perth Magistrate's Court this morning where her lawyer applied to change her bail so she can go on a holiday.

Ms Rollans was acting as an unofficial carer for the 95-year-old woman in 2009 when she allegedly began stealing from her.

Ms Rollans is facing 34 stealing charges after she allegedly used the woman's debit card to spend $249,108 on items for herself and her family.

Police will allege the offences took place between 2009 and 2011. Magistrate Robert Young agreed to vary Ms Rollans' bail by deleting a condition that she report to police once a week.

Ms Rollans is expected to plead to the charges when she appears in court again on February 7.
