Police are calling for information on a Wundowie crash that resulted in the death of an eight-year-old girl.

Just after midnight yesterday, a gold Toyota Echo being driven by a 30-year-old woman is understood to have veered off the road and hit a tree.

The woman's two children, aged two and eight were trapped in the crash.

The RAC Rescue helicopter attended the scene and airlifted the three to hospital but the eight-year-old girl died on the way.

The mother suffered serious injuries two-year-old was treated for minor injuries.

Police believe that the woman may have swerved to avoid hitting a kangaroo. They are interested in speaking to anyone who saw the crash, was in the area or assisted before emergency services arrived.
