A 35-year-old Baldivis man has been charged over fatal crash in Waikiki in the early hours of New Year's Day.

About 4.30am a 17-years-old was walking on Ennis Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle.

Police allege the driver of the car left the scene of the incident and the teenager died.

The accused had been charged with failing to stop and failing the report an incident and creating a false belief.

It is alleged that the accused made a false report of his vehicle being stolen.

He will appear in Rockingham Magistrates Court on January 21.
