Police are searching for an armed robber who threatened a man with a knife outside a business in Thornlie last night.

It is understood that just after 6pm, a 25-year-old male staff member was emptying rubbish outside the Spencer Road premises when a man holding a knife approached him.

The offender then forced the man inside where he threatened him and made him lie on the floor before taking cash and fleeing.

The man has been described as about 180-185cms tall, slim build and was wearing a balaclava, a black top and black pants at the time of the incident.
