Ruckman Mark Seaby is on the cusp of a dramatic return to West Coast via tomorrow's AFL rookie draft.
With star big man Nic Naitanui in doubt for the start of the 2013 season following groin surgery, the Eagles are looking at an insurance policy should they be down a follower come round one.
Seaby was delisted by Sydney two months ago and was set to resume in the WAFL with Claremont.
However, West Coast are now considering Seaby as part of a back-up plan in case there are complications with Naitanui's recovery.
The Eagles traded Quinten Lynch to Collingwood, also depleting their ruck stocks. The club has Dean Cox and Scott Lycett as the big men in the squad.
Seaby played 102 matches in six seasons for the Eagles, including the 2006 premiership.
He featured in 18 matches in three seasons with the Swans and wasn't part of the club's victorious grand final line-up in September.
