UPDATE: SUNDAY 2.40pm Police have charged two men in relation to an incident yesterday morning in West Buseelton in which a police officer is alleged to have been threatened with a gun.

A police officer was threatened with a gun after a violent alleged burglary in West Busselton early yesterday morning.

Two officers were called to an address on Moore Street at about 4.30am, where a man and a woman were discovered with head injuries.

Police allege two men forced their way inside the home with an axe before assaulting the pair with a makeshift weapon.

The police were chasing the offenders on foot when one of them is alleged to have raised a loaded gun at an officer, who deployed his taser before securing him.

The second man was also tasered and secured after he confronted the other officer with a club-style weapon.

Neither the officers or alleged offenders were injured during the incident.

A man and a woman were taken to Busselton Hospital but their injuries are not considered like-threatening.

A 19 year old Broadwater man was charged with being armed in a way that may cause fear, aggravated assault occasioning bodily harm, aggravated armed robbery and aggravated burglary.

A 30 year old Busselton man was charged with aggravated burglary, ggravated armed robbery, being armed in a way that may cause fear, point firearm at another person, unlawful act with intent to harm, possess firearm in circumstances of aggravation, deprivation of liberty.

Both men are due to appear in the Bunbury Magistrates Court tomorrow.
