Priest in court on ear biting charge

A former clergyman who allegedly bit another priest's ear has made a brief appearance in court this morning.

Father Thomas Henry Byrne appeared in the Perth Magistrate's Court charged with aggravated grievous bodily harm over the alleged attack on his neighbour at a Dianella complex on November 8.

He was charged after he allegedly bit off the ear of Father Thomas Joseph Cameron over an alleged dispute about a car park at the complex.

Father Byrne did not plead to the charge and his lawyer Seamus Rafferty requested a six-week adjournment whilde a medical report about the victim's alleged injuries was prepared.

His bail was renewed for him to appear in the Perth Magistrate's Court next on January 23.
