Officers punched, spat at in Albany
An Albany police officer was punched and another officer spat at by a man after he was approached by police in the street.
Officers stopped outside a business on Albany Highway, Orana, to speak to two men about alcohol they were allegedly carrying and drinking about 11pm.
Police allege one of the men became aggressive and punch one of the officers to the head twice.
During attempts to arrest the men it is alleged he spat at one of the officer’s face twice.
Extra police arrived at the scene to assist and the man was eventually placed into a police van.
A 43-year-old Camillo man was charged with two counts of assault public officer and will appear in the Albany Magistrate's Court at a later date.
