A 20-year-old Success man is facing a mandatory jail term after he allegedly punched a police officer and a police horse in Northbridge last night.

The man was involved in a fight with a group of men in the Northbridge Piazza about 11.25pm when police tried to restrain him.

He allegedly hit a female officer as well as a mounted officer and horse that came to the woman’s aid.

The man was arrested and has been charged with obstructing police, disorderly behaviour and two counts of assaulting a public officer.

He is due to appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court on December 18.
