A 69-year-old man was pushed to the ground and robbed at a Willagee store last night.

The man was attacked from behind by a young woman, who stole his wallet and a packet of cigarettes he had just purchased just before 6:30pm at the IGA on Archibald Street.

The man sustained injuries to his hand and elbow, police spokesman Sgt Gerry Cassidy said.

The woman was later apprehended by police when she returned to the store.

She will appear in the Perth Magistrate's Court today.
