Three teenagers who stole a baby's ashes during a raid on a house in Bassendean have been charged.

Police allege the 17-year-old boy and two 13-year-old girls broke into the house and dismantled its security system on October 29, stealing a wooden box containing the ashes of the baby, as well as a DVD and video camera.

East Metropolitan police located the ashes and stolen items after searching a house in Bassendean.

The teenagers will appear in the Midland Children's Court on November 21 on charges of aggravated burglary.

It is believed the ashes have been returned to the family.
