Update, 5.25pm: A 38-year-old man allegedly at the centre of a siege involving two women in Embleton has been charged.

The man emerged from a house in Collier Road a few minutes ago and is in custody.

Police have charged the man with threats to injure, endanger or harm any person.

Armed police rushed to the house after being alerted earlier this morning.

Police initially responded to an incident in Collier Road after receiving a call from a woman.

When officers arrived they saw a man with what they thought was a firearm. Two women were outside the home when police arrived.

The nature of the incident is unknown.

Tactical Response Group officers were called.

The Embleton Primary School in Collier Road was locked down.

Parents of some children arrived and have tried to go through police lines to the school.

Collier Road was closed off between Broun Avenue and Embleton Avenue.

Police are still searching the house but have not found any firearms.
