Next stop Milan for model uni student
They say you can't have it all but with good looks, brains and a sweet nature, Ali Caldwell might be the exception.
Not only is the Mt Claremont beauty studying engineering science at the University of WA, she is preparing to jet off to Italy's fashion capital in January for prestigious agency WhyNot Models.
"It is kind of surreal and I guess I can't really believe it's happening to me," the 19-year-old said.
"I will be going to Milan for two months in the uni holidays and it will be just like I'm living there, so whenever castings and jobs come up for me, I will take them."
Caldwell's modelling career started about three years ago when a booker from Vivien's Model Management spotted her in the street.
The same booker saw Caldwell two weeks earlier in Cottesloe but did not approach her because she did not have a business card on her.
In the past three years, Caldwell has worked in Tokyo and South Korea, fronted many campaigns and walked in shows across Perth.
She admitted modelling involved long hours and hard work but said it was fulfilling and fun.
"Modelling is like a completely different world and it opens you up to heaps of different people and experiences," she said.
"Sometimes you have to compromise, though. It sucks giving up some modelling jobs for uni but I guess you've got to do it."
