A road train with two trailers loaded with iron ore rolled over in the early hours of this morning on its journey up north from Koolnooka.

About 15 kilometres north of Mingenew the road train rolled over on the Midlands Road after it veered onto the gravel verge.

The 58-year-old driver attempted to control the vehicle but it jack-knifed causing the prime mover and first trailer to tip.

Dongara Police, Dongara volunteer SJA and Dongara volunteer fire fighters attended the scene and the driver was taken to Dongara Medical centre with non life threatening injuries.

The driver was then transferred to Geraldton Regional Hospital.

The road was closer until 8.15am this morning when a 50 tonne crane and a tow truck forced the road train upright.
