Not guilty plea in Broome murder case

A French backpacker accused of stabbing to death another man in Broome early on Christmas Day has pleaded not guilty and now faces a trial in May.

Thomas Camus, 22, appeared in the Supreme Court this morning by video link from Hakea prison.

He was assisted by a translator.

Mr Camus is alleged to have stabbed 32-year-old Perth man Kristopher Eric Dixon during a fight outside Broome's Bungalow Bar just after 2am on December 25.

Attempts are being made to find an earlier trial date.
