A 58-year-old Sawyers Valley man may face charges after a pallet of explosives was found in the rear trailer of his truck yesterday.

Traffic officers were conducting a truck stop on Great Eastern Highway in Northam at 3.30pm when the man’s truck was checked and explosives, believed to be fireworks, were discovered.

The bomb squad was notified and attended the scene where that took the explosives from the truck.

The man could face charges under the dangerous goods act if he does not have a license to carry the goods, or if there were no indications on the truck that dangerous goods were onboard.

Police are investigating.
