Company fined $510,000 for Montara spill

The company responsible for the 2009 Montara oil disaster off the Kimberley coast has been fined a total of $510,000 for four charges relating to the spill.

The fine is less than a third of the $1.7 million maximum penalty for the charges.

PTTEP AA pleaded guilty to the charges at a hearing at the Darwin Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The penalties were handed down in the same court this afternoon.
