A broken-down train on the Fremantle line is causing delays to fans heading to the watch the Fremantle Docker match at Patersons Stadium.
The train stopped about 2pm near Grant Street Station.
One carriage had a fault with its door, and passengers had to be taken off, Public Transport Authority spokesman David Hynes said.
The stricken engine was moved out of the way, and passengers are able to board subsequent services, he said.
A passenger told The West Australian after getting off the stalled train, the following service he jumped on was “absolutely packed”.
Sections of the Midland, Armadale, Thornlie and Fremantle lines have been closed since Friday for work on the Perth City Link project, causing heavy congestion on the roads.
The Fremantle line is currently running services between West Leederville and Fremantle.
